
Honorlogic PI Ayse K Uskul with two members of the team, Konstantinos Kafetsios and Dina Rabie, supported by Juliet O’Brien, Stephanie Gunartne and Skye Seaman organized a one-off three day meeting “Social Science Perspectives on Individuals, Cultures, and Institutions in the Mediterranean Region” in Rethymno, Crete. The meeting brought together 57 scholars with 46 talks and posters presented by attendees from 14 different countries: Belgium, Cyprus (Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities), France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Malta, Palestine, Qatar, Spain, Turkey, UK and USA. It was organized to promote exchange among scholars from different social sciences whose research focuses on the Mediterranean region.
The featured speakers were Dr Mai Albzour from Birzeit University, Palestine, Prof. Ayse Guveli from University of Warwick, UK and Dr Ahmed Ezzeldin Mohamed from Toulouse School of Economics, France.
The meeting was held in Rethymno, Crete with support from the European Research Council, the Centre for Research on Cultural and Societal Diversity (CRCSD) at the University of Sussex, and the University of Crete Research Centre.
