Stephanie Gunaratne

PhD student

Stephanie obtained her BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MSc in Social and Applied Psychology at the University of Kent (Canterbury, UK). She is working towards her PhD in Psychology at the University of Sussex (Brighton, Falmer, UK).

Stephanie’s research interests relate to how honor concerns shape social cognition and interpersonal relationships. In the past, Stephanie studied the role of honor in social exclusion and intimate partner violence. She has also assisted in various projects such as a multicultural project on shame and honor in South Asia. 

As part of her PhD research, Stephanie is working with Dr Shuxian Jin on HONORLOGIC’s Work Package 2 (Compromise) which will examine the role of honor in reaching a compromise and how reaching a compromise reflects on one’s social image. She is also interested in studying the role of honor in acculturation processes.
