Dr Jason Freeman

Research Fellow

Jason obtained is BA Psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He completed his MSc in Psychological Sciences at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, working with Prof. Joanna Schug. He then received the MEXT Scholarship from the Japanese Embassy in Washington, D.C., to complete his PhD in Behavioral Science at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, under the supervision of Prof. Masaki Yuki.

Jason’s research interests generally lie within social-ecological and evolutionary psychologies. His past work explored ways in which social-ecology may shape cross-cultural differences in prosocial behaviors, empathy, and preferences within the context of romantic relationships.

In HONORLOGIC, Jason is interested in exploring the potential role of honor culture in shaping cross-cultural differences in forgiveness and person-perception after apology for interpersonal transgressions. He is currently working on Work Package 3 (Apology).
